About this event

Presented by the UNCSA School of Music Piano Department, the 2026 Piano Weekend will feature three different competitions, focusing on the Baroque and Classical periods as well as works by Chopin, and a performance by Boris Berman. These events are dedicated to the memory of three important musicians: Kenneth Cooper (1941-2021), a preeminent American harpsichordist and scholar of Baroque music; Anna Kantor (1923-2021), a noted Russian piano pedagogue, whose students included Evgeny Kissin; Patricia Misslin (1940-2021), a leading American voice teacher, whose students included Renée Fleming and Stephanie Blythe.
