- ➤ Guilford County Animal Services processed 6,800 animals in 2025, of which 4,000 were adopted and 1,300 surrendered by owners; they held an emergency rabies clinic in July that vaccinated about 150 animals. - ➤ Monks from Theravada Buddhist monasteries walked into Greensboro recently to share their message of peace, stopping at Grandover Resort where Mayor Abuzuaiter presented a proclamation to about 6,000 people. - ➤ North Carolina A&T held a ceremony on campus to honor alumnus Ronald McNair on the 40th anniversary of the Challenger disaster. The school highlighted his achievements, including earning his doctorate at MIT + his contributions to science and education. WFMY

- ➤ Drivers in the Triad are urged to check their batteries — replace windshield wipers and top off antifreeze and washer fluid ahead of the expected snow and ice, as officials advise avoiding non-essential travel when the weather worsens. ABC45
- ➤ City officials said Greensboro’s monitoring and cooperation with local industries have reduced 1,4-dioxane levels by 97% at the T.Z. Osborne Wastewater Treatment Plant since 2015 — a proactive step to safeguard water resources. Rhino Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers were detoured on Tuesday along West Friendly Avenue after a water main (16-inch) break closed all westbound lanes in the 5000 block and left about 20 customers without water; city crews worked to repair the break with estimated completion by 9 p.m. Tuesday. WXII 12
