CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ UNCG celebrates 100 years of Black History Month with multiple events this February (including a kickoff party on Feb. 9, music performances on Feb. 11 and 13, and an art exhibit open until Aug. 1) that honor a century of cultural and educational achievements. UNCG
- ➤ An Emmy-nominated A&T documentary will show at the Smithsonian soon as organizers plan to announce the screening schedule later. The film spotlights A&T's cultural contributions in art and creativity. News & Record
- ➤ The N.C. A&T Jazz Ensemble and N.C. Central University Jazz Ensemble will perform in the Aggies vs. Eagles Classic on Feb. 13 at Historic Williams High School auditorium in Burlington. - ➤ A water main break on the 300 block of North Elam Avenue (between West Friendly Avenue and Rolling Road) has closed roads and left 20 without water, city officials said; crews will finish repairs and restore service by 8 p.m., urging drivers to take alternate routes. WXII 12
- ➤ City of Greensboro reported 30 water main breaks in 2026 due to winter weather and aging infrastructure. The water department maintains 1,500 miles of pipes by replacing roughly 15 miles annually with modest rate increases, and residents can sign up for free Water Wise alerts to monitor home leaks. WFMY
