- ➤ Almost 1,000 customers lost power in Greensboro on Monday morning, Duke Energy said. The outage began at 11:46 p.m. and 972 customers were expected to remain without power until 1 p.m. today, with the cause unknown. WFMY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A UNCG lab partnered with Luna Labs is testing fungus mixed with regolith to form a building material that could support construction on the Moon and Mars. Funded by NASA, the research led by chemistry professor Nicholas Oberlies is ongoing at UNCG. UNCG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bird scooters will be limited to 10 mph between 1 and 2 a.m. in downtown beginning March 1 as part of a joint safety measure by the city and Bird. Riders starting trips after 10 p.m. will receive an in-app notice and must pass a Safe Start test. WFMY
- ➤ Guilford County property tax assessment notices are going out this week — showing that average real estate assessments are 40–45% higher than current prices. Homeowners should review their notices for updated figures. WFMY
