COMMUNITY NEWS

  • NC Bar Association executive director Jason Hensley explained that 4 All Service Day is a community service event scheduled for March 6 in Greensboro. Local residents will have the chance to volunteer and learn more as additional details are announced.  WFMY
  • The City of Greensboro Neighborhood Toolbox program will reopen next month with pickups scheduled on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Greensboro Sportsplex.  WFMY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Former Brixx Wood Fired Pizza locations reopened as Crust & Craft in Greensboro and Winston-Salem; the restaurants now serve pizza and craft beer and are run by the same owner, with the Greensboro site reopening on Feb. 23 and the Winston-Salem one on Feb. 24.  WFMY

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new 1,000-capacity music venue, The Pyrle, opens today at 232 S Elm Street in downtown, housed in the renovated former Triad Stage building. It will host national touring artists & live events like comedy, films, concerts, and private rentals with an inaugural show by Anders Osborne.  WXII 12
  • Acme Comics, Greensboro’s oldest comic shop, is a local hub built by owner Jermaine Exum that welcomes fans with diverse comic characters and storylines while fostering community and representation; the store looks forward to continuing its role as a creative gathering place.  WXII 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UNCG is hosting summer arts camps on campus in July for high schoolers and dance educators. Summer Music Camp offers sessions July 12 to 17 and July 19 to 24 while the Arts and Design Intensive runs July 12 to 17 (applications open Feb. 9 and Feb. 20).  UNCG

  • The Greensboro Science Center is using STEM methods to design habitats that match bluebirds' natural nesting sites and support their comeback for a thriving local population.  WFMY
