ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ City officials report that a crash with downed power lines has forced the closure of all lanes on Vanstory Street between Pinecroft Road and Veasley Street with no injuries and crews working to restore service—drivers are advised to avoid the area. ABC45
- ➤ A crash left power lines in the street on Vanstory Street—between Pinecroft Road and Veasley Street—which has closed all lanes and left about 100 customers without power, while Duke Energy said power will be restored later this morning and no injuries were reported. WXII 12
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Greensboro police are investigating a shooting on I-85 south near mile marker 131 today around 1:44 p.m.+ they said two tractor-trailer drivers were involved and one was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. WXII 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Bessemer Elementary held Career Day where more than two dozen groups, including Duke University, the Greensboro Police, and Guilford Technical Community College, came to tell students about their jobs. The day had indoor talks and an outdoor display with a fire truck from the Greensboro Fire Department—students learned about many future careers. Carolina Peacemaker

- ➤ On Friday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services urged residents, healthcare providers and childcare centers to update their measles vaccinations — a step taken as cases rose in 19 states — even though no cases have been reported in our state this year. Officials noted that a 93.8% MMR rate among kindergartners is below the 95% target — prompting schools to review records — and stressed the need for extra vigilance as measles continues to spread nationally.
