- ➤ Greensboro teen Kaleb Gatlin, a senior at New Garden Friends School, turned his senior project into a fundraiser that raised $18,000 to buy new sneakers for every student at an elementary school in Guilford County. He expanded his plan from one classroom to include siblings across the school—sneakers were given out last week and his project earned him a job offer with Guilford County Schools when he is ready to teach. - ➤ A 4-2 decision by the N.C. Supreme Court last week kept the Riggs-Griffin election case active for 30 more days. More than 60,000 ballots were confirmed while military and absentee votes must prove eligibility—if enough of these votes are later rejected, Judge Jefferson Griffin’s 734-vote loss may change the result.
