  • Five Big Lots stores in the Triad will reopen Thursday—new owner Variety Wholesalers Inc. is focusing on suburban and rural communities as part of its strategy.  News & Record
  • Boom Supersonic said Friday that it chose the Colorado Air + Space Port to test its new Symphony engine, which will be part of its $500 million factory plan at PTI. The company will begin engine testing later this year, invest $3 million to $5 million in site upgrades, and hopes to add at least 1,781 jobs when production is full.  News & Record

  • On March 8, sheriff’s deputies responded to a stabbing at 6000 Devoncourt Place in Jamestown and found a bleeding man who was later pronounced dead, and investigators have now identified him as 33-year-old Honduran Jose Margarito Alvarez-Espinal while 39-year-old Yoni Isaias Cifuentes Perez faces first-degree murder charges—further details remain under investigation.  Rhino Times
  • A man died—woman injured in an early Sunday morning homicide in Greensboro, marking the city's 13th fatal incident this year.  WFMY

  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is hosting a golf tournament—raising money for scholarships, and eight students in the Triad will receive awards from the funds raised. The event will support education opportunities for local students.  WFMY

  • On May 1, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners will vote to extend a one-year contract with Pacific Interpreters for over-the-phone and remote video interpreting services for Public Health Division residents with limited English. The costs have surged from $82,558 in fiscal 2020-21 to $306,750 in fiscal 2023-24—this contract may reach up to $700,000 over two years.  Rhino Times
