  • A Greensboro woman said her SUV caught fire on Thursday night when sunlight reflected off shiny rims to heat dry mulch, but a Walmart delivery driver who took a wrong turn called the fire department and firefighters put out the blaze by Friday morning.  Rhino Times

  • Childress Vineyards in Davidson County hosted the Freedom 250 Mobile Museum exhibit (a free, interactive look at early American history) that celebrated 250 years of freedom; the display will travel to Denton from June 30 to July 1 and to Summerfield from July 7 to 15.  WXII 12

ECONOMY NEWS

  • City leaders honored resilient small business owners (despite several downtown closures) on Tuesday at The Pyrle; officials said 10 new businesses will open soon to offer alternative shopping and dining options.  ABC45
  • Drivers in the Triad now face gas prices surpassing $4 a gallon since March 1 due to global oil market shifts and tensions in Iran; local stations offer rewards programs to help families save a few cents per fill using apps at outlets like Harris Teeter and Shell.  WXII 12
