CRIME NEWS
- ➤ At about 12:31 a.m. on Friday, first responders in Greensboro found that an impaired driver struck two people changing a tire on US 29—killing one and leaving another with life-threatening injuries—while the driver, Robert Lynn Faison Jr., was charged with DWI, failing to maintain lane control, failing to reduce speed, felony serious injury by vehicle and felony death by vehicle. - ➤ Deputies with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21-year-old Kishan Kumar Singh, an international student from India, after he pretended to be a law enforcement officer to scam an elderly woman in Stokesdale—he was charged with fraud and elder abuse—and the investigation remains ongoing. - ➤ On Thursday, a 78-year-old Stokesdale woman reported receiving scam calls from people claiming to be federal agents who said her bank accounts were compromised and pressured her to withdraw a large sum, and deputies arrested 21-year-old Kishan Singh (from India, living on a student visa in Cincinnati) when he came to her home with a package (bond set at $1 million); the investigation is ongoing. - ➤ On May 2, Archdale man Earl David Rivers, 50, was arrested and charged with six counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor—he allegedly distributed images and videos of underage girls electronically after investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the investigation remains ongoing. - ➤ Smithsonian clarified that claims of removing Greensboro’s original lunch counter and stools from the 1960 sit-ins are false—these key artifacts remain on display in the National Museum of American History and the interactive exhibit at the National Museum of African American History.
