GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Guilford County manager Michael Halford recommended an $842 million budget that will keep the property tax rate flat at 73 cents per $100 of assessed value and add funds for 26 new social workers, 24 emergency services positions, and a $2.5 million bump for the school district operating budget—well below the $44 million requested. A public hearing on the proposal will be held June 5 and officials are expected to work with the school system to create a sustainable funding model. WFDD
