ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to a home fire at 1711 Westridge Road where all three occupants and their dogs had evacuated safely, and 45 firefighters battled heavy flames until the fire was under control by 9:18 p.m.—the blaze caused about $30,000 in interior losses and $175,000 in structural damage, Westridge Road reopened shortly, and investigators are checking the cause. - ➤ A crash near Waughtown Street on Highway 52 closed one northbound lane near exit 108—police and fire trucks are on scene and the Department of Transportation says the lane will remain blocked until about 2 p.m. WXII 12

- ➤ Greensboro police charged parents Nykiah Singleton and Berry Williams with first-degree murder after their 16-month-old was found unresponsive on the 600 block of Kenneth Road on Nov. 6 — life-saving efforts failed and both suspects are now in jail. WFMY
- ➤ On March 8th, 2024, at 1:20 a.m., Greensboro police responded to Culture Lounge on Spring Garden Street after reports of a shooting that left two men dead and a woman injured, and video surveillance and ballistic evidence led to charging 25-year-old Jaylen Sawyer with two counts of first-degree murder, an assault with a deadly weapon, and firearm possession by a convicted felon while 30-year-old Traevon Wilson was charged as an accessory—authorities said the gang-related incident involved a suspect, Markese Taliaferro, who was fatally shot in October.
