CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police arrested 39-year-old Christopher Rowmane Goggins on Saturday at 6:50 p.m. after they responded to a shooting on South Elm-Eugene Street where one victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries—he is held at Guilford County Jail with no bond and is set to appear in court on Monday. - ➤ Greensboro police said that on Saturday at 5:20 a.m., a head-on collision on West Cone Boulevard between Cleburne Street and Marston Road killed the driver of an SUV and charged 29-year-old Nicholas Lehman—who suffered only minor injuries—with impairment, felony death by motor vehicle, careless driving, reckless driving, and a concealed weapon violation as its Crash Reconstruction Unit continued the investigation. - ➤ Police investigated a shooting on Saturday when a person was found with a gunshot wound in a car and parts of East Wendover Avenue near US 29 closed for about two hours — the victim was taken to a local hospital and their condition remains unknown. WXII 12

- ➤ Guilford College and Piedmont Land Conservancy are working together to preserve 120 acres of historic Guilford Woods in Greensboro + they plan to raise $8.5 million over the next two years to secure the property. WXII 12
- ➤ Guilford Creek Week will run from June 21 to June 28 to offer free, family-friendly events that help residents learn about and protect local waterways—activities include cleanups, hikes, and water treatment tours, with some events requiring advance registration. - ➤ Guilford County commissioners passed a resolution asking for more public safety analysis on a proposed natural gas pipeline extension that will add 28 miles of pipeline through Guilford, Forsyth, and Davidson counties — if approved, construction will begin next year and service is scheduled to start in 2027. - ➤ Greensboro lowered its city operations emissions by 40% after focused efforts reduced the use of natural gas, fuel for city vehicles and equipment, and purchased electricity, city official Shree Dorestant said.
