CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Greensboro police arrested 25-year-old Tatyana Lucas on Fairfax Road after an argument led to a stabbing that sent one person to the hospital; officers located the victim (at 9:30 p.m. Sunday) and charged Lucas with assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. WXII 12
- ➤ A 27-year-old from High Point died after being shot on Norwalk Street, police said. WFMY
- ➤ At around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night, police responded to an assault on the 2500 block of Fairfax Road where they found a victim with non-life threatening injuries who was hospitalized for treatment—detectives say no suspect has been identified and there is no active public safety threat. ABC45

- ➤ Edward R. Murrow was born as Egbert Murrow in 1908 on a large family farm in Polecat Creek (south of Greensboro) and he later changed his name before moving with his family to Washington at age six. His Quaker roots include a grandfather who served as a state senator and helped approve NCA&T, and the Greensboro History Museum displays his bust, war correspondent cap, and Peabody Award. WFDD

- ➤ The City of Greensboro will close offices, libraries, and several Parks and Recreation facilities on June 19—trash and recycling will be collected on June 18 while parks, transit, and certain pools remain open. Local museums will hold free events, including a guided bike tour and living history displays to celebrate Juneteenth. Rhino Times
- ➤ On June 13, Guilford County Social Services hosted the Beyond Age event in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at the DSS building parking lot at 1203 Maple Street in Greensboro—more than 40 vendors and agencies provided free health screenings, mobile health units and food trucks while sharing resources on elder abuse and services for older adults.
