  • In Greensboro, demonstrators gathered outside Senator Thom Tillis' office on June 18 to protest proposed Medicaid funding cuts.   • The Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted on Wednesday to adopt an $847.3 million general fund budget for fiscal year 2025 to 2026 — a plan that keeps the property tax rate steady at 73.05 cents per $100 of assessed value — to fund education, public safety, and essential services. The budget allocates $499.3 million to schools and technical college and provides funds for the Family Justice Center, Camp HOPE, and additional local measures — supporting a new tax department team and opioid settlement efforts — as the fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.  FOX 8
  • At its Tuesday, June 17 meeting, the Greensboro City Council approved an $831 million budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year—starting July 1 and ending June 30—while keeping the property tax rate steady.
