  • All lanes on US 29 South near East Market Street remain closed from a crash that occurred Thursday morning and police are investigating the collision — emergency vehicles block the road and cause heavy traffic.  FOX 8

CRIME NEWS

  • Two men were injured in a shooting on Summit Avenue last night—one was taken to a hospital by ambulance while the other drove in himself—and police are investigating the incident.  FOX 8
  • Late Wednesday night, Greensboro Police responded to an assault on the 3500 block of Summit Avenue and found a victim who was hospitalized for further evaluation—police are investigating the incident.  ABC45

  • Greensboro City Council announced on July 1 that City Attorney Chuck Watts retired immediately after six years of service — he led the legal office through challenges like COVID-19 and civil unrest. The Council will soon name an interim replacement.  YES! Weekly

  • Boston Gilmer, 13, from Greensboro Day School, and Brianna Hood, 9, from Northern Guilford Elementary will travel to Washington, D.C. on July 7 for the T1D Children’s Congress + they will join 170 kids to meet with Congress members and share their experiences to support diabetes research funding.  YES!
