- ➤ North Carolina will receive up to $23 million from a nationwide $720 million settlement with eight opioid drug makers, as Attorney General Jeff Jackson said. The state will allocate 85% of the funds to local governments to help address the opioid crisis and requires counties and large municipalities to sign on within the next three months—steps to ensure companies face limits on opioid marketing.
