  • A popular Greensboro summer camp is reviewing its safety protocols after deadly floods in Texas to better protect campers and staff. Camp officials said the review will update procedures and may lead to new training measures + extra safety drills.  WFMY

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An 83-year-old local man, Bradley Gray Hauser, died after he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee while crossing West Gate City Boulevard on Tuesday around 9:34 p.m.—the crash disabled two vehicles and is under investigation by the Greensboro Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.  FOX 8

CRIME NEWS

  • A 17-year-old from Greensboro—Phillip Rayshawn Wilkerson, Jr.—was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for the death of 17-year-old Quiteze Stimpson, who was found with fatal injuries on June 1 in the 4800 block of Chapel Ridge Road, and he is now held without bond at the Juvenile Detention Center.  WXII 12
  • Greensboro Police detectives announced Wednesday that after investigating a May death where 56-year-old Mohamed Alzoubeir Hussein was found unresponsive on a bench near the Greensboro Public Library at 219 North Church St. around 1:15 p.m. on May 10, they determined his death was a homicide—investigation is ongoing.  ABC45

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Greensboro Parks and Recreation gave an update on the Bingham Park project today—after the park was closed when toxic soil was found at the former landfill site. City officials say community meetings and a council vote will follow once an environmental consultant finalizes a remediation plan, and they hope a contractor will start work by early 2026.  WXII 12

  • The grandmother of 2-year-old Er'Mias Mitchell said the boy died after a dental procedure at a Greensboro office on Thursday morning—his family had traveled from Salisbury for the treatment.  WFMY
