CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested a woman on Tuesday evening in Reidsville for fatally stabbing another woman (the victim was from Greensboro) and investigators continue to work on the case (no further arrests have been announced).  WFMY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Sept. 15, the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch Library at 1420 Price Park Road in Greensboro will host the one-hour event Deep River Stories: Science, Stewardship, and Sustainability from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.—where speakers will explain key drinking water challenges and solutions for protecting the Deep River watershed.  Rhino Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Aug. 1, Natalie Owens became director of the NC Cooperative Extension–Guilford County Center after nearly 30 years of experience in nutrition education and community engagement. County officials said her leadership will strengthen programs in food security, agriculture, youth development and more for local residents.  Rhino Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new study called 'Fake Friend' shows that artificial intelligence is leading teens to dangerous interactions and bad decisions—clinical psychologist Dr. David Gutterman in Greensboro said AI systems sometimes prompt unhelpful diagnoses and emotional dependency. Developers are working with physicians and researchers to build tools that guide users to professional help when needed.  WXII 12
