ECONOMY NEWS

  • Greensboro’s Carolina Cluster Dog Show is expected to generate an economic impact of between $150,000 and $250,000—boosting local spending.  WFMY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • High Point University was named the #1 Best-Run College in the nation by The Princeton Review for the second year and is preparing for record enrollment this fall with plans to break ground on a $100 million library later this month—under strong leadership—further boosting its national reputation.  Rhino Times
  • Guilford College trustees named Jean Bordewich president for a two-year term after she led a campaign that raised over $6 million. She faces challenges including a December accreditation deadline—one that will affect students' federal loan eligibility—and she plans to strengthen the college's ties to Greensboro.  WFDD
  • North Carolina A&T and Project Kitty Hawk signed a memorandum on July 12 at the A&T Farm Pavilion to launch seven Flight Path degree programs for adult learners, with three programs starting enrollment in January 2026—these online courses offer degrees in criminal justice, liberal studies, and MBA concentrations and will allow flexible, year-round enrollment. The partnership is expected to add about 4,000 new students over the next five years as A&T expands its reach to adult learners.  Carolina Peacemaker
