- ➤ The City of Greensboro’s Solid Waste and Recycling Department will host its first Mighty Machines event on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the White Street Landfill on 2503 White Street; the free event will let families climb inside large vehicles, watch live demonstrations, and enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs provided by the Greensboro Police Department’s grill team — registration is required due to limited space. - ➤ Chairman Skip Alston held a meeting last week at the Old Guilford County Court House with home builders, planners, and staff to discuss the need for nearly 100,000 new housing units and a faster permitting process in Guilford County.
