- ➤ Today is the first day of school in Guilford County as students return to new classrooms at Peeler-Hampton Visual and Performing Arts and Kiser Middle School—both facilities built with funds from a $2 billion bond project renovation. The new $40 million Peeler-Hampton school, named to honor schools lost in the 2018 tornado, offers modern spaces for dance, music and design—supporting a fresh start for local students. WXII 12
- ➤ Professor Nir Kshetri from UNCG's Bryan School of Business and Economics received a Fulbright award and will begin research in Nepal in January, looking at how AI might change higher education in developing countries — he will also update his cybersecurity management courses to help students understand global cyber policies. Josh Stein signed House Bill 959 that restricts cell phone use and mandates social media literacy lessons for public schools—psychologist Mitch Prinstein said the changes may boost academic achievement and help students emotionally.
