Good morning, Greensboro. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 15th of September.

CULTURE NEWS

  • In 1914, Greensboro passed a segregation ordinance after white residents objected when a Black teacher bought a home in a predominantly white neighborhood — protests and a petition pushed officials to act. The North Carolina Supreme Court later nullified the law, and a historical marker in Winston-Salem will note the case that set a precedent for local housing rules.  News & Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • WFMY News 2 said that the NC Folk Festival will boost Greensboro's economy as local businesses expect more sales and visitors — a sign that festival spending will support community growth. The report noted that this increase in activity is expected to benefit local vendors and tourism.  WFMY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Triad gained eight new DMV examiners — Forsyth and Guilford counties gained two each and Alamance, Davidson, Davie and Randolph counties gained one each — to help cut wait times.  News & Record
