- ➤ Two Triad film projects have been approved for state grants, with The Bard receiving up to $4.6 million and May and the Woodsman up to $412,500—these grants are expected to create more than 3,800 jobs and generate a combined $31 million in spending. A legislative committee has been renewed to study ways to attract more film and TV productions, and additional projects are anticipated in late 2025 and early 2026. News & Record

- ➤ College of Visual and Performing Arts Dean Bruce McClung announced the 2025–2026 UNC Greensboro Concert and Lecture Series featuring Leslie Odom Jr who will perform at UNCG Auditorium on January 10 and include acts like the Count Basie Orchestra; tickets for individual shows and season subscriptions are now on sale. - ➤ City engineers said West Washington Street will be closed weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until Sept. 26 for waterline work as part of the Greene Street streetscape project—motorists should plan to use alternate routes. The project is 75% complete and will finish later this year. WXII 12
- ➤ Travelers can enroll in TSA PreCheck at Piedmont Triad International Airport's final 2025 event from October 6—10 at 1000 Ted Johnson Parkway. Applicants must bring proof of identity and citizenship, pay $78 for a five year membership, and expect to receive their Known Traveler Number in three to five days. WFMY
- ➤ Greensboro police have used a special Behavioral Health Response Team—BHeart—to help manage challenging mental health calls, and police chief John Thompson said the program has eased officer stress and improved crisis support. The team, which includes a crisis counselor, community paramedic and trained officer, began five years ago and will work toward operating 24 hours a day. WXII 12
- ➤ Five candidates are running to succeed retiring Councilwoman Goldie Wells in District 2 on Greensboro City Council and four responded to a local questionnaire. The candidates emphasize community activism and city government experience to address housing and infrastructure disparities—early voting begins Sept 18, the primary is Oct 7, and the general election is Nov 4. - ➤ For the first time in 20 years, Greensboro will soon have red-light cameras at five high-risk intersections to boost traffic safety. The new system uses radar—plus cameras—to check speed and position and drivers caught will face a $50 fine as installation is expected to finish by year-end. ABC45
- ➤ Three candidates—Nicky Smith, Adam Marshall, and Steve Ignac—are running to fill the open seat on Greensboro City Council as Councilwoman Nancy Hoffmann retires.
