  • A local rescue is promoting the adoption of Whisper— a pet in need of a loving home—and asks residents to help find a new owner.  WFMY
  • A local animal shelter is featuring Boo Boo in its rescue drive+ the campaign urges Greensboro residents to adopt Boo Boo into a forever home.  WFMY
  • City officials will honor NBA Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo today by naming the Benbow Park basketball court after him from 2 to 4 p.m.—shuttle buses will run from 2401 S. Side Blvd and parking is available at Kindred Hospital with a backup plan at the Simkins Sports Pavilion if it rains. Attendees are invited to stay after the ceremony for food and fellowship.  WFMY

  • Greensboro hosted its annual Pride Festival at LeBauer Park, drawing thousands downtown to celebrate diversity—this community event marked the return of a cherished local tradition.  WFMY

  • On Saturday, young girls attended Girls in Aviation Day at Samaritan’s Purse’s hangar at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro—exploring airplanes and discussing future careers with women pilots from United Airlines and Samaritan’s Purse.  WXII 12

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • On Sept. 18, Shawna Tillery of the City of Greensboro explained plans to turn the old animal shelter site into an affordable housing community that offers 700 square foot homes & support services like health care, job training and financial counseling. City and county officials are preparing legal steps to transfer the land so the new project can begin soon.  Rhino Times

  • The Western Guilford Hornets defeated the Smith Golden Eagles 29-6 in their first 6A conference game and improved their record to 4-1 with strong running plays. A brief scuffle occurred during the game and the Eagles coach said his team must take better care of the ball.  News & Record
  • On Friday, September 19, 2025, Page defeated Southern Guilford 47-0 in Greensboro to reach a 3-1 record for the first time since 2017—Page quarterback Zamari Williamson threw five touchdown passes in 11 drives to build an early lead and maintain strong momentum.  News & Record
  • NC A&T's Blue and Gold Marching Machine will perform at halftime of the Giants-Chiefs game today at 8:20 p.m. The performance will bring the group to a new audience.  WFMY
