COMMUNITY NEWS

  • FanFest 2025 is set to be the largest Greensboro-sponsored event this year and will draw 65,000 people over three days—showcasing Aggie pride as local fans gather for the celebration.  WFMY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Undergraduates at UNCG spent their summer on research projects funded by URSCO—studying plants in a campus garden and running lab tests to learn skills for future jobs and college work. Their efforts helped them gain hands-on experience and build connections with faculty for advanced studies.  UNCG
  • At UNCG, fall brings a busy slate of events to ease student stress and boost campus life—wellness workshops, outdoor adventures, game nights, and live shows fill the schedule with a Resilience session held on Sept. 30 and a homecoming bonfire with Alumni House naming set for Oct. 17—18. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Matt Groseclose with the Greensboro Fire Department explained how to safely dispose of lithium-ion batteries—advising residents on proper recycling and handling to reduce fire risks.  WFMY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Food and Nutrition Services announced changes that will alter SNAP eligibility in the Triad—over 50,000 residents could see reduced benefits as the new act expands the age range to 64 but removes key exemptions. Forsyth County officials said they are waiting on guidance for when these adjustments will take effect as local partners help residents meet the new work or education requirements.  WXII 12
  • Governor signed Senate Bill 245 which gives drivers another option to renew their licenses without waiting in line at the DMV—motorists in Greensboro will soon have a faster way to update their documents.  News & Record
