- ➤ The Greensboro Science Center welcomed its first trumpeter hornbill chick, which hatched on August 2 and first appeared outside its nest on October 3—its parents Ronnie and Jazz have been at the center since 2021. WFMY
- ➤ City officials are preparing for the Greatest Homecoming on Earth which will bring over 100,000 Aggies and visitors into Greensboro for parades, block parties and FanFest. The parade starts on Oct. 11 at 8 a.m.—Murrow Boulevard, East Lindsay, Dudley and Yanceyville streets will be closed to ease traffic. Rhino Times

- ➤ The board of the Eastern Music Festival voted to disband the event after 64 years due to a labor disagreement with faculty musicians—who unionized during a five-week music program at Guilford College—leaving over 10,000 young musicians without the learning opportunity. WXII 12

- ➤ Today, Greensboro and Jamestown voters hold primary elections for seven of the nine council seats—local officials urge registered voters to participate as the results will determine the new city council. News & Record
- ➤ Today, voters in the Piedmont hold municipal primary elections to choose candidates for local offices including an open seat for mayor in Greensboro after Mayor Nancy Vaughan announced she would not run for reelection — four candidates are vying for the nomination along with several council contenders. More than 6,500 Guilford County voters cast early ballots at four precincts, and in Asheboro, voters will trim a field of 14 city council candidates for the Nov. 4 general election. WFDD
