- ➤ Aggie FanFest is hosted by Greensboro Parks and Recreation on Yanceyville Street and War Memorial Stadium, where local vendors like Scoop Zone and Bag Lady Dee serve mini donuts and barbecue during a free three-day event that brings together alumni, students and local residents—today from 4–9 p.m. and continuing on Oct. 11 and Oct. 12. - ➤ North Carolina A&T State University students, alumni, friends, and local residents will attend the Greatest Homecoming on Earth parade on Saturday, October 11th at 8 a.m. The procession will run east down Lindsay Street with the Blue and Gold Marching Machine and local high school bands — details include Grand Marshal singer-songwriter Sybil Lynch and Chancellor James R. - ➤ The City of Greensboro announced fall events for families that include a Family Fishing Evening today at Lake Higgins from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with a $5 fee, a Beginner Archery Clinic on October 16 and October 30 at Bryan Park from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with a $5 fee, and an Urban Foraging event on October 22 at Meeting Place Park from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.—each event requires registration. - ➤ Eric Benét and Chanté Moore will perform today at the Aggie Alumni Homecoming Concert in the Guilford Ballroom at the Koury Convention Center, with dinner provided at 7:15 p.m. and the show beginning at 8:30 p.m.—Benét returns after an eight-year break with his album Co-Star to launch his U.S. tour and bring his soulful R&B style to the event. - ➤ North Carolina A&T’s Blue and Gold Marching Machine performed a standout halftime routine at GHOE that showed the long hours and strict discipline required for their homecoming duties. - ➤ NC A&T students will host their annual homecoming fashion show on the athletic floor to celebrate Black culture and student identity. The show—titled 'Through Our Eyes: What We Wear Who We Are'—will feature three categories and include 20 student organizations and 11 student brands with a new Made by Us section to spotlight Black dandyism. - ➤ UNC Greensboro held a beam signing event for its new campus building — the Jeanne Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice, which will open next fall. WFMY

- ➤ The 1400 block of West Vandalia Road—from Royalton Drive to Four Seasons Boulevard—is closed due to a 12-inch water main break that left about 25 customers without water. Crews are working to complete repairs by 8 a.m. today and drivers should avoid the area. WXII 12
- ➤ On Thursday, Greensboro city leaders discussed the 'Road to 10,000' initiative and said that over 2,100 new homes have been built in the last seven months. They added that partnerships and new rules will help build 10,000 homes over the next five years—plans aimed at meeting the city’s growing housing need. WFMY

- ➤ City workers were notified on October 9 that their health benefits would change as health insurance premiums increase by 7 percent and co-pays rise for emergency treatments and drugs—an update prompted by a $7 million funding shortfall. - ➤ At the Guilford County Board of Commissioners meeting on October 1 at the Old Guilford County Court House, residents protested the upcoming 2026 property revaluation, saying the higher assessments will push tax bills to unsustainable levels—especially for those on fixed incomes.
