  • Greensboro advises drivers to avoid roads used for N.C. A&T homecoming festivities today and recommends parking at the Greene Street parking deck or the Davie Street parking deck.  News & Record
  • A Triad woman got her broken air conditioner fixed after she endured sweltering heat in her apartment when one call led to the repair—solving her problem quickly. The fix brings relief to a local resident.  WFMY

CULTURE NEWS

  • NC A&T alumni are displaying their creative works at GHOE as part of an event celebrating their college legacy. Two vendors share their Aggie Pride—presenting unique pieces at the exhibit.  WFMY
  • WFMY News 2's Lauren Tear reported that the City of Greensboro will host NC A&T's GHOE Aggie Fan Fest to showcase Aggie traditions—officials will soon share more details about activities and timing.  WFMY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Guilford Technical Community College will break ground on a new aviation training center in Greensboro that will boost its capacity by 40% and serve more than 700 students annually—official details about the project are expected soon.  News & Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Greensboro City Council approved a resolution on October 9th asking the federal government to check Transco's plan to build a 24-mile natural gas pipeline in the Triad—many say it may hurt water and air quality. Similar measures were passed in Guilford and Forsyth counties and 36 state lawmakers signed a letter urging the Department of Environmental Quality to block new permits.  WFDD
  • Today, Greensboro city officials announced changes to GTA transit services due to NC A&T’s Homecoming—Crossmax Purple 1 will run every 30 minutes while Route 14 on Bessemer and Phillips Avenue may face delays and run free on Saturday; the Hopper Trolley will follow detours downtown along Elm Street and could be delayed.  WXII 12
  • On October 6, FREE Guilford held a press conference on police accountability in Greensboro and called for reforms after complaints of excessive force and racial bias — urging an end to pretextual stops, safety frisks and requiring written consent before searches — while urging voters to back candidates who promise transparent oversight. The group, which included community organizers and partner groups, presented data and past experiences to support its demands ahead of the municipal primary elections.  Carolina Peacemaker

  • WFMY News 2 has opened a poll for the Friday Football Fever game on October 17, inviting local fans to decide which high school matchup to feature; one option is Western Alamance vs Eastern Alamance+ the chosen game will air on television.  WFMY
  • Zawyer Sports & Entertainment announced Greensboro’s new professional women's basketball team, the Greensboro Groove, which will begin play in May at Novant Health Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Complex with Janice M.
