- ➤ Today, the Piedmont Triad Regional Council received a $500,000 grant from the Great Trail State Coalition to design the Reedy Fork Triad Park segment of the 19-mile Piedmont Greenway, which will link Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Summerfield, Oak Ridge & Kernersville when completed. Construction on the segment may begin within two years and take several years to finish as growing areas need safer routes for pedestrians. WXII 12

- ➤ Thousands of students and alumni gathered at North Carolina A&T last week—boosting downtown business in Greensboro as 'The Greatest Homecoming on Earth' energized local shops. WFMY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Greensboro Community Relations Division released its latest annual report, showing 1,077 cases were filed from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 over issues like code violations, homelessness & panhandling, speeding, parking, and zoning disputes. The report also noted the launch of a Spanish-language podcast before Hispanic Heritage Month and that the City Academy program will now be held each spring. Rhino Times

- ➤ Guilford County's Board of Commissioners has created an Infant Mortality Taskforce to lower high infant death rates — the group will meet Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. in the John H. McAdoo Conference Room at 201 W. Market St. In its meeting, experts from hospitals, public health, and social services will review prenatal care, transportation, nutrition, and other factors to set new, clear goals for reducing infant deaths.
