- ➤ On Saturday, thousands joined peaceful 'No Kings' protests near the Guilford County Courthouse and on Wendover Avenue in Greensboro, demanding fairness, accountability and a government that protects democracy. Protesters, including older activists and younger voices, said the event was orderly and safe with no violence reported. WFMY
- ➤ Protesters in Greensboro and Winston-Salem held 'No Kings Day' demonstrations as part of a nationwide movement against claims of authoritarian overreach; organizers (allegedly) said the protests were meant to challenge government power. WFMY
- ➤ On Oct 16, Guilford County commissioners approved in principle a new parks master plan — From Survival to Success — that charts a 10-year roadmap to enhance 6,000 acres of parks, trails and greenways with a needed $10 million investment. County officials said staffing, operations and capital upgrades will be addressed in proposals coming in during the 2026–2027 budget process. Rhino Times
- ➤ On Oct. 16, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted to support the Dolley Madison Woman’s Club’s request to install a monument in front of the Old Court House downtown. The board approved a $10,000 grant while the club will add about $5,000 to $6,000—financing the tribute to a local icon. Rhino Times
