- ➤ On Oct. 18, UNCG renamed its Alumni House as the Marcus T. Johnson Alumni House after a ceremony with trumpet fanfare — music, student poetry, and remarks from UNCG officials. Marcus Johnson, a Class of ’99 alumnus, said his gift will keep the space a welcoming hub for all campus members. UNCG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Guilford County will light county buildings, including the Old Guilford County Courthouse and the emergency services building, green from Tuesday, Nov. 4th through Nov. 11th to honor veterans as part of Operation Green Light—a national campaign supporting veterans. The Board of Commissioners approved the effort on Oct. 16 and urged local groups to join by using one green bulb to show their support. YES! Weekly

- ➤ Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist submitted certificates of need on October 15 to build two new freestanding emergency departments in Greensboro — one at 3800 N. Church Street and one at 4007 S. Elm-Eugene Street. The facilities will operate 24/7 and provide emergency care, imaging, lab and pharmacy services, though public hearing dates have not been set. WFMY
