  • A Guilford County family will host the 5th Annual Turkey Bowl on November 28 to honor their late son Cameron, who died in a car accident in 2021+ the co-ed kickball tournament for children and adults will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Gibsonville Community Center.  WFMY
  • City in the House play café, built by mothers Chelsea Fong and Lauren Massengate, is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 2800 Lawndale Drive (Suite 110) in Greensboro and serves as a safe place where children play and caregivers relax.  WXII 12

  • Duke Energy is proposing a 15% rate hike — WFMY News 2's Manning Franks explains that the change could raise customer bills and that more details will be provided soon.  WFMY
  • A Triad food delivery driver did not receive her earned wages until WFMY News 2 contacted her employer — prompting the company to explain the delay. The case raised concerns about timely pay for local delivery workers.  WFMY

  • Raven Dial-Stanley, a UNCG alumna, launched her fashion brand Original Peoples to highlight Indigenous culture—she also travels across the area to teach Native American traditions and promote STEM for Indigenous students.  UNCG

  • Barry Manilow has set up a contest to give $10,000 to a Greensboro music teacher — $5,000 in cash and $5,000 for school instruments. Ten teachers are competing and votes will choose the winner.  News & Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The 500 block of Bennett Street is closed from Gorrell Street to East Gate City Boulevard due to an 8-inch water main break that has left about 10 customers without water service. City crews are working to repair the break and expect the street to reopen by midnight today — residents with discolored water should run cold water through a faucet without an aerator.  ABC45

  • UNCG experts and United Way are building stronger support networks for family caregivers facing isolation and financial stress—helping them maintain balance as traditional networks shrink. The university’s Caregiver Support Network offers flexible programs and workshops that connect caregivers with essential guidance and resources.  UNCG
  • Today, a mobile opioid treatment unit will operate from 6 to 10:30 a.m. at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church at 200 N. Regan St.—providing opioid treatment services to Greensboro residents.  News & Record
