- ➤ WFMY News 2 reporter Chad Silber will ring the Salvation Army bell for 40 hours across 10 Triad locations to raise funds for local programs—each donation going to the chapter where it is made. The week-long tour runs from December 15 to December 19 and will visit places including Greensboro, High Point, Madison, Reidsville, Kernersville, Asheboro, Mebane and Burlington—Silber hopes to beat last year’s record of $9,200. - ➤ Greensboro Parks and Recreation will launch a yearlong celebration at Gillespie Golf Course on Sunday, December 7 to honor the Greensboro Six, who in 1955 played to integrate the course. The event begins at 1:30 p.m. with a ceremonial tee shot—followed by a 2 p.m. film screening and mural unveiling that recall a key civil rights moment. Rhino Times
- ➤ Boy Scout Troop 316 opened its annual Christmas tree lot at Mount Pisgah Church with trees from a West Jefferson farm covering nearly 80% of its costs — trips, registration and scout training.
