- ➤ A fire broke out at The Wash Tub on Summit Avenue Friday, Dec. 26 around 8 a.m., leaving a hole in the roof with no reported injuries as firefighters and Duke Energy officials began an investigation. WFMY

- ➤ NC A&T faculty and staff granted the wishes of around 200 children in Guilford County foster care during the ninth Winter Wishes gift drive held before Christmas; Chancellor James R. Martin II + local officials praised the generous contributions. Carolina Peacemaker

- ➤ State leaders honored former Governor Jim Hunt, a Greensboro native known for his work in education and economic development, after his passing at 88 was announced on Dec. 18.
